Viagra may slightly lower blood pressure in patients with cardiovascular disease. Researchers at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Germany found that, of 84 men who took Viagra before undergoing prostate cancer treatment, just over half were found to have an enlarged prostate. The association says there are several precautions to consider while taking Viagra, including that Viagra should not be taken by men who take nitrates for heart problems. The physical activity led to an increase in the exercise intensity and a reduction in the time for sexual activity.
Men who are taking nitrate medicines should not use Viagra.
A separate study, published in the journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings, also discusses possible hypertensive complications related to Cialis. The study was published online in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Some men may be fine on lower doses of Viagra, but the dose strengths need to be adjusted for different reactions.
One study that looked at the health of more than 1,000 men with cholesterol levels of 300 milligrams per decileter (mg/dL), the range from 100 to 680 mg/dL, found that men with cholesterol levels over 500 mg/dL were 3.4 times more likely to have ED than those with cholesterol levels below 100 mg/dL. 80% of men with ED have cholesterol levels between 100 and 400 mg/dL. Most men with cholesterol levels over 500 mg/dL have had at least one coronary event, a heart attack, or peripheral vascular disease.
Treatment with sildenafil was given for five days and both men were to take Viagra on an as-needed basis.
The study, which appears in the journal Drug, was conducted by researchers who looked at the drug’s effects on 11,689 men who took part in a long-term study. More than fifty heart patients with heart problems were treated with the PDE5 inhibitors.
At the end of the study, they found that the men who took supplements for three months had more improvements in prostate symptoms than the men who took a placebo. Men who did not participate in the study walked just 142 meters, or 5.4 miles, a shorter distance than most of the other men in the study.
The heart disease did not cause any changes in heart function.
The FDA warns that if you start a regimen of erectile dysfunction drugs and then stop, you could double your risk of side effects.
According to the website of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, people who accidentally took Viagra while eating are more likely to get stomach ulcers than those who took their prescribed doses.
